Common Fail Items
It is typical of all vehicles to have a few items that can cause mechanical failures from time to time. By trusting us with your Mini Cooper you can rest assured that we are fully aware of the concern each of these items present to your vehicle and how to expertly correct them back to better than new standards. Some of these items we routinely see are:
1.
Air Suspension Faults
Land Rovers are known for great handling and off-road capabilities. The amount of technology and effort put into the suspension system is second to none. Unfortunately we do have some routine failures with the air suspension that we see. If you have warning messages about your suspension, our highly trained technicians can properly diagnose and repair any issues you may have. We see regular airbag failures, compressor failures, general air leaks, exhaust valve restrictions, and software/programming faults.
2.
Timing Chain failures
On many Land Rover engines we see timing codes and/or mechanical timing faults. Regardless of which fault your Land Rover has, we have invested in the latest in the specialty tools and information systems that are required to bring your Land Rover back to factory specifications. On mechanical timing chain issues on a Land Rover ensure that the repair facility you choose has actual experience in completing these repairs. The specialty tools are expensive so we have found that many shops will attempt a patch job that will leave unsuspecting customers with a failed engine.
3.
Tires and Alignments
It would seem simple enough to replace tires and perform an alignment. On a Land Rover with the variable height air suspension the correct equipment and training is required. Unfortunately we often see more alignment issues from budget repairs than we do preventatively. Make sure to trust experts with all your Land Rover needs.
4.
Lower Control Arms
Land Rovers are known for having lower control arm bushing failures. We use only original equipment to ensure our repairs will last as long, or longer, than your original control arms did. If you are moving slowly in traffic, or in a parking lot, and hear a very low pop/thud in the front end when you apply the brakes you have failed lower control arms. This will often amplify with warped rotors. The replacement of the lower control arms can be a labor intensive task as the adjustable alignment bolts will often bind when removing. We have experience with this issue along with the most effective techniques to remove available. In the long run, trusting an experienced shop will save you labor on the final invoice.
5.
Repeated Rear Rotor Failure
The rear rotors on a Land Rover have three different friction surfaces instead of two. In addition to the two sides, there is also an inner surface similar to a brake drum. With the electronic parking brakes on Land Rovers, there is a lengthy procedure for the proper adjustment and “bedding in” of the rear parking brakes. If you have experienced warped rear rotors multiple times then this is the problem. We use the latest scan tool equipment and information systems to ensure this does not happen to your Land Rover. All repairs are also covered by our industry leading 24 month, 24,000 mile warranty.
6.
Check Engine Light
The check engine light is not welcome regardless of what brand vehicle you choose. We have worked on enough Land Rovers to see a few patterns that we will share. Regardless a proper diagnostic is the only way to know what part to replace when your check engine light comes on. On Land Rovers we see ignition coil, spark plug, evaporative system, camshaft sensor, and oxygen sensor faults. Any of these faults can possibly have underlying causes which we can quickly and effectively identify and repair.
We have many years of experience in repairing Land Rovers, along with mechanics that are up-to-date with current technology and equipment. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff are here to help you with all of your Land Rover’s service and repair needs.
